Start with the investigation
Ask what the consultant needs to learn about your audience, content and technical setup. Request an example of how a finding becomes a proposed change. A useful explanation connects the work to an identifiable problem.
Clarify deliverables and access
Agree on reporting, implementation responsibilities and approval steps. Keep account ownership with the appropriate organization and grant only the access needed for the work. Record how access will be removed at the end.
Review the claims
Ask how results will be evaluated and how uncertainty will be explained. Be cautious of promises that depend on decisions outside the consultant’s control. Compare the quality of the proposed process, not just the number of tasks in a package.
